Dial Indicator Check for "Soft Foot" Condition |
||
"Soft foot" occurs when the feet of the electric motor are not flat, in the same plane, when the mounting bolts are tightened. Perform this simple test by having the dial indicator pointer on each foot, while slowly loosening, or tightening the mounting bolt. Soft foot could be the result of poor mount condition, or bent feet on the motor. Usually, shims between the electric motor mount feet and the motor mount base, improve this condition.
