The series motor is quite common. It operates
most hand
held power tools, and some
woodworking machinery. The motor produces
high starting and running torque. It utilizes
an armature with
commutator and
brushes, to complete the armature circuit. This
motor
typically has high rpm ratings
and its speed is primarily only limited
by the load on the motor.
The motor is
typically for intermittent duty due to winding
heating
during operation.
